Sebastian's Bio
Sebastian Knowles (who everyone calls Seb) is a retired literary professor who decided to return to his first love: music. He had an indifferent musical education mostly made up of operettas and madrigals while in school at Oxford and in college at Harvard, though he did manage to spend Saturdays at the Longy School of Music and spend a summer at Kinhaven. As a singer he has performed with some of the finest conductors of his age: Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, and Mstislav Rostropovich. He has premiered work at the Aldeburgh Music Festival and performed locally as the narrator and devil in The Soldier's Tale, as Pierrot in Pierrot Lunaire, and as St. Nicholas for the OSU School of Music's Christmas Concert. He has made seven piano recordings on CD and Spotify of works by Debussy, Shostakovich, Rameau, Nyman, Chopin, and Bach. For more, see Discography.
